Portraits of Finnish-Japanese people
People often say, Oh, are you half Japanese? or So youre a haafu. What does haafu mean, and what do people think when they call someone a haafu? How do people turn out when theyve always lived between two cultures? What is their identity like?
This exhibition is a statement for tolerance. No one should be judged because of their parents or cultural background or the way they look. A picture can show what a person looks like, but is it enough to class them as halves? What you see up front is only a reflection of whats inside. People are always more complex and more impressive than one would think. Everyone is special and beautiful in their own way.
